1 John 1:8-9
I have an embarrassing habit—- I often talk to myself. Not just having a conversation in my head, but actually talking to and answering myself!!! Abi often makes fun of me (which is well deserved) by asking me, “Who ya talking to?” or “Are you having a nice conversation?”. Arggggg! But when you stop and think about it, maybe talking to yourself isn’t such a bad thing. I think often times we need to use God’s Word (The Bible) to talk to ourselves. You see, we often deceive ourselves into thinking that all is alright in our lives. 1 John 1:8 alludes to this fact. We often down play or excuse our bad decisions/sins. Sometimes we compare ourselves to others instead of asking God to show us our sin. Psalm 139:23-24 says: Search me, God, and know my heart;test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me,and lead me in the way everlasting. Ask God to bring to light any hidden sin that you might be storing up in your heart. Know that you can bring these things to God and He will forgive you (1 John 1:9). He wants you to walk in the light and not in the shadows of hidden sin.
