I enjoy coffee! I drink a lot of it. Every evening I get my coffee maker ready for the following morning. I put my filter in the coffee maker, put the grounds in the filter, and then fill up the water reservoir. But, every now and then, something goes completely wrong! Sometimes the water gets trapped in the top part of the coffee maker and overflows into the pot mixing the coffee grounds into the water and making a huge mess! The bad part is that the coffee is completely undrinkable because it is full of coffee grounds. But when the coffee maker works correctly, the grounds are caught by the filter so that all the liquid that goes into the pot is delicious coffee. This often reminds me of life. You see we are surrounded by so many things each day that we have to process in our minds. We see things on TV, hear things at school, listen to songs on the radio, talk to friends, etc. all these things affect what we think about. We can often get pulled into gossip or letting our minds ponder on the pop-up ad that featured a sensual girl or guy. The Bible is like a coffee filter. It helps us catch the bad attitude that we are having… helps us identify lust and it’s harmful outcomes….it helps us not get trapped in gossip filled conversations…. ultimately, it helps us identify sinful things around us and in us.

One of the best things we can ponder is the fact that God has provided a way for us to be made right with Him. The Bible tells us in 2 Corinthians 5:21  For OUR sake He (God) made Him (Jesus–God’s only son) to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God. WOW! God has provided a way for us to be free from our sin by putting our trust in Jesus’ death on the cross in our place!
