Our Leadership

Jim Erwin

Jim Erwin

Senior Pastor

Jim and Monica Erwin call the Hawkeye state home. Jim is from Adel, Iowa and Monica is from Denver, Iowa. They met at the University of Iowa through involvement in Campus Crusade for Christ. Graduating and getting married in 1998, they moved to Texas to begin teaching. Jim taught Secondary Mathematics and Monica taught 5th grade. From teaching, however, Jim felt the Lord’s call to pursue ministry and went on to study at Dallas Theological Seminary. During their time at Dallas, they were involved in teaching the newly married Sunday school class at church and had an opportunity to do ministry overseas. Upon graduation from seminary in 2003, they moved to London, England where Jim served as pastor at Twynholm Baptist Church. During that time they had their first child, a son, Jacob. Four years later, they returned home to Iowa (the sweet corn and the Hawkeyes were a big pull!) and began serving as pastor at Wellspring Evangelical Free Church. Jacob is currently 9 years old, all boy and full of energy. Macie, their second child, was born in January, 2009 and they are loving their precious little all-girl daughter. William, their youngest, was born in December 2010 and is busy, busy, busy. Jim’s an avid reader and particularly enjoys anything by C.S. Lewis, Tolkien, Spurgeon, and a trio of John’s - John Owen, John Piper and John MacArthur.

  1. My name is John and I am 51. Been married 15 yrs to my wife Becca. I’m writing this message Tuesday afternoon and simply asking for prayer. I’m not from this area just ended up here off the train. I’m a decent guy and good husband with faith in God,,and Jesus as my lord and savior. I am an injued Army veteran that has become truly frustrated with life. When your entire life is filled with government,,,as mine is,,,there isn’t much hope with things. My wife is disabled and on social security,,and with me being an Army vet,,,our lives depend on government and its bad news. I served 3 yrs of my life honorably from 84-87 and did all I was told to do. I an not a “war era” veteran,,,but I did 18 months overseas and did my tern honorably. Ive needed shoulder surgery for a year now,,,have tried several VA hospitals for help,,and have come to the conclusion that it doesn’t matter whom the president is,,,the VA is just a disaster and somehow,,,someway by the graces of God,,,I need to make it through this and get a job with health insurance to weed myself away from the VA. I was reading your associate pastor went to school in Deerfield IL and I grew up about 5 minutes from Deerfield,,,my parents are buried up there. My wife Becca,,,was just diagnosed with diabetes a year ago,,,and has had 7 seizures since then,,,doctors really don’t know why this is happening,,,but its put a lot of stresses and pressures on me. There probably isn’t anything your able to do to help me,,,,,and I’m basically stuck here until I’m able to get help and I just have to keep praying God hears me and loves me enough to get through this mess. I had to go so far as to get a state senator involved with this,,and even that failed. Ive done all I can do humanly possibile to make things work,,,not being able to lift my left arm Ive still done a few side jobs to survive and stay alive. Your church looks like a good group of men and noticed sports fans as well. I can only ask for prayer,,and just hope my life is meaningful enough to keep going and fight the fight. The heat isn’t helping my cause at all and just pray God hears my calling out cuz I truly feel beaten up right now. Thanks for reading and please pray
