Our History

  • March 6, 2002: The first seeds were planted as five couples (Randy and Kathy Seberg, Dwight Alvine remain with us) met regularly for a year seeking God’s guidance to begin a new Evangelical Free church in Mt. Pleasant.
  • June 15, 2003: The first public worship service was held at the High School with 32 in attendance with Norm Adamson, Associate Superintendent of the Central District, leading us in worship and as church planter.
  • May 2004: The first pastor was hired, Followed by interim pastor, Roy Anderson, with search committee in place from 2006-2007.
  • June 3, 2007: Pastor Jim Erwin began his role as pastor of Wellspring.
  • October, 2007: Wellspring outgrew the High School space and moved to meeting at the Mt. Pleasant Christian school.
  • December, 2008: Office space was rented downtown
  • January, 2009-2011: God continued to grow our Wellspring family and the need for a building soon became apparent.
  • April, 2011: Ten acres of land was purchased on S. Grand Ave at $9,000/acre for our future site.
  • September 8, 2013: Kicked off our capital campaign: S Grand Journey…of Faith with a goal to raise funds for our building costs of $1.3 million.
  • June 8, 2014: Our ground breaking ceremony was held on the land, celebrating God’s goodness and provision. Site work and construction began the following work.
  • July 6, 2014: Associate Pastor Eric Nygren hired as full-time staff.
  • December 7, 2014: Our final service and moving day at the Christian School
  • December 14, 2014: The first service in the new building (Our contractors: Woodruff Construction)
  • Aug 1, 2018: Interim Pastor Jim Watters and his wife, Wendy, began their ministry at Wellspring serving us until God calls Pastor Next
  • Present: We are grateful for God’s grace and continue to trust Him as He leads us in sharing the good news of the gospel in the community of Mt. Pleasant and surrounding areas! We are blessed!!
